About us
Artist in life and scientist by trade, our artist started creating at a young age. Often referred to as overly creative, while pursuing chemistry, she decorated her lab and dabbled in art on the side. She managed to have two full art shows, one in 2004 in Fort Myers Beach, Florida and one in 2006 at the University of South Florida in Tampa, while finishing her undergraduate degree.
In 2006 she taught herself to sew on an old singer borrowed from the owners of a home she rented a room in. She always had trouble finding clothing to fit her tall build and desired pockets in ALL clothing. What started with tailoring quickly grew into designing for herself and her close friends. In 2024 she obtained membership into the zebra community (Hello zebras! That's why she had to learn how to tailor, who would have thought?) and took up pattern drafting to help herself and others. The experience from writing standard operating procedures for cosmetic manufacturing actually translated well into pattern making, which was unexpected.
Our artist loves to create, to inspire, to teach, and to bring joy to other aspiring sewists, cosmetic formulators, artists, and lovers of art. She often calls what she does as “creating things that should exist in the world, to have them just live out there ‘in the ether’ of the internet where others can stumble upon them and enjoy them.”
We hope you discover some joy, fun, and inspiration with us!
Let us know if you have any ideas or questions for us, we love to hear from you! We are strong believers in the power of community, online and elsewhere.
Please enjoy the chemistry doodles of imaginary bands, created by our artist while she brainstormed with one of the most influential people in her creative journey. This was made around 2014, on a break in the quality control lab.
